Analysis of a recent job posting assignment, from the point-of-view of a Candidate.
Last month, I sent the job posting email below to the AIEA mail list and several people have asked me to share the process and the results.
Following the initial email, I had 20 conversations from interested parties, by phone and email.
Twelve members requested additional information and I sent them the detailed job description and the company profile information that was developed from the Employer’s brief.
This resulted in six formal applications, consisting of a CV and a covering letter.
I selected five applications to forward to the Chairman.
He telephone or Zoom interviewed all five and selected three to be interviewed by the board in the following week.
One candidate was offered the role. He accepted and started the following Monday.
Another six people later contacted me but were too late to be considered.
Both the new CEO and the Chair are very pleased. In fact, the Chair has given me
this recommendation to share with others:
I am the Chairman of a Brisbane company that requires an interim Executive for 12
months. I spoke to Mal Walker and provided our brief. Within a few days, he gave us
a long list of potential candidates and we selected a short list to interview. As a
result, we were able to appoint an interim executive within 2 weeks from contacting
Mal and that person has proved to be outstanding in the role. Mal showed real
attention to detail and his professional approach was appreciated, and his fee was
very good value. No doubt he has a large list of potential interim executives across a
range of skills that he can source to quickly provide you with the person you need,
as he did for us. I am happy to recommend Mal Walker for this service should you
have this need.
If I can assist you in a similar way, I would be delighted to do so.
